Settlements are player-run activity hubs in New World. Settlements are governed by Companies by capturing a Territorial Fort.[1]
Claimable Settlements[]
The abbreviation commonly used for the settlement or territory is in parentheses.
- Brightwood (BW)
- Cutlass Keys (CK)
- Ebonscale Reach (ER)
- Everfall (EF)
- First Light (FL)
- Monarch's Bluffs (MB)
- Mourningdale (MD)
- Reekwater (RW)
- Restless Shore (RS)
- Weaver's Fen (WF)
- Windsward (WW)
Each claimable settlement also contains a Supply Cart that the controlling faction may use once a day.
Outposts[]
Territories with Outposts rather than Settlements exist in the northern section of the map, and cannot be claimed. They contain some T1 Crafting stations, a Storage Shed, and some quest-giving NPCs.
- Edengrove (EG)
- Great Cleave (GC)
- Shattered Mountain (SM)
Watchtowers[]
Watchtowers are where newly-created characters can spawn. The Watchtower is randomly chosen when the character is created. They only exist near 4 settlements:
- Everfall - Everfall Watchtower
- First Light - First Light Watchtower
- Monarch's Bluffs - Monarch's Bluffs Watchtower
- Windsward - Windsward Watchtower
Settlement Tiers and Upgrades[]
Each settlement starts as a hamlet and levels up by completing Town Projects. Settlements begin to level down when upkeep, which is due every 7 days, is not paid to the controlling faction or if players fail to repel a corrupted invasion.
- Hamlet - Tier I
- Village - Tier II
- Town - Tier III
- City - Tier IV
- Capitol - Tier V
The territory planning board inside the town hall can be used to manage settlement and fort upgrades and territory lifestyle buffs. Each upgrade or buff triggers a set of town projects on the mission board.
Station Upgrades[]
In settlements, crafting stations start at tier 2 and refining stations start at tier 3. There's a minimum of 24 hours between upgrades.
Crafting stations
- Tier 2 -> 3: 100 gold
- Tier 3 -> 4: 5,000 gold
- Tier 4 -> 5: 10,000 gold
Refining stations
