Gypsum is a resource that is found by doing a variety of activities. Gypsum can be crafted into Gypsum Orbs, which can then be turned into special caches called Gypsum Casts. Gypsum Casts are gear type specific, and when opened, guarantee an Expertise bump for that type of gear as well as an item of that type.

- Obsidian Gypsum - 3 per day: is an 80% drop from any Named Elite level 60+ enemy when they drop a bag, and you need three to craft a Gypsum Orb. You can get unlucky, but in general you should only have to kill 4 Named Elites on average to get your daily allotment. Obsidian Gypsum can generally only drop from open world Named enemies in elite zones. You can find a full list of elligible enemies here under the "dropped by" tab. It also has a 10-13 minute cooldown on dropping, so sitting and farming the same enemy four times in a row won't work. It will take around 40 minutes to get enough Obsidian Gypsum because of the cooldown.
- Sapphire Gypsum - 2 per day: Defeating the final bosses of The Lazarus Instrumentality and Garden of Genesis.
- Ruby Gypsum - 3 per day: Outpost Rush completion
- Emerald Gypsum - 1 per day: Aptitude leveling reward
- Citrine Gypsum - You can obtain Citrine Gypsum by completing the following arenas: Zygoramet's Grove in Edengrove, Eternal Pool Arena in Reekwater, Spire of Melpomene Arena in Reekwater
- Amethyst Gypsum - Major/minor breach completion
- Topaz Gypsum - 10 per day: Drops from any level 55+ creatures while under the effect of a daily craftable potion, Topaz Gypsum Attunement Potion. Do note that your Gypsum Limit counter goes up on drop, not on pickup, so if you miss a bag it's impossible to hit ten.
- Diamond Gypsum - 3 per day: Rewarded from "special event" activities such as opening presents in the upcoming winter event.

You need a full days worth of gypsum to create a single orb. There is a single exception to this: only 1 Sapphire Gypsum can be used each day. You may be able to stockpile these for future crafts. Gypsum is not collected from the reward containers for breaches, outpost rush, arenas or trade skill aptitude level-ups. You will need to complete the activity in order to receive it as a reward. Each orb will be used to level the Expertise of an item slot and generate an item within the maximum range of that Expertise level. It is approximately 31 Orbs to level a slot from 500 Gear Score to maximum. When everything is at maximum, they will simply be used to generate items of a chosen slot with a guaranteed GS range of 591-600.
You will only be able to level up the expertise of each item slot once per day. When you are approaching maximum expertise across all item slots, players will need to do less and less gypsum generating activities per day.
