There are five core attributes in New World. Each attribute has different benefits and, at certain thresholds, provides bonuses.
Each player starts with 5 Points in each attribute. Each level grants attribute points, and higher subsequent levels grant more attributes per level; 220 attribute points granted, from leveling, in total. Attribute points can be enhanced with Equipment bonuses and Item Buffs. Respec is free until level 60. Beyond that level, respecing will cost 50.00 Coins.

Strength (STR)[]
Strength governs your power with melee weapons. Heavy melee weapons, such as Great Axes and War Hammers, scale their damage exclusively (100%) on Strength, while lighter melee weapons like Swords and Hatchets scale their damage primarily (90%) on Strength, but also slightly (65%) on Dexterity. Spears, however, scales primarily (90%) with Dexterity and secondarily with Strength (65%). Flail scales primarily on Strength (90%) and secondarily on Focus (65%).
Dexterity (DEX)[]
Dexterity governs the effectiveness with ranged weapons. Bows scale off exclusively (100%) with Dexterity, while Muskets, Rapiers and Spears have a primary contribution (90%) from this attribute. Lighter melee weapons, such as the Hatchet and Sword, also see a benefit from Dexterity (65%), but not as much as they gain from Strength (90%).
Intelligence (INT)[]
Intelligence governs your power with most magical weapons. Fire Staff and Ice Gauntlet scales exclusively (100%) with Intelligence, while the Void Gauntlet scales primarily (90%) with it. Muskets and Rapiers scale secondarily (65%) with Intelligence. All the damage done by weapon-socketed elemental gems, with the exception of Amber gems, also scale with Intelligence.
Focus (FOC)[]
Focus governs your healing output of healing abilities and the damage of a few weapons and abilities. The Life Staff scales exclusively (100%) with Focus, while the Void Gauntlet scales secondarily (65%) with it. Flail scales primarily on Strength (90%) and secondarily on Focus (65%). In addition, damage done by Amber elemental gems socketed in weapons also scale from Focus.
Constitution (CON)[]
Constitution governs your overall Health pool. The higher your Constitution, the more damage you can sustain before succumbing to your injuries.
